On one of Indonesia’s southernmost islands, West Timor, the Eco Hapakat Foundation supports a small school in a remote area on the island’s southern coast.
This school was established and is still operated by a Swiss foundation, the EGI Foundation, Switzerland (https://egi.education/). While Indonesia’s national curriculum is fundamentally strong, most teachers do not know how to break it down into individual lessons or how to achieve the educational goals in a pedagogically sound way.
Beatrice Brönnimann supports the teachers of this EGI school remotely, along with occasional on-site visits. This allows the local teachers to fully focus on teaching, while the methodological and didactic planning—including the “translation” of the curriculum into individual lessons—is provided by the Eco Hapakat Foundation.
As a result, the efficiency of learning and the quality of teaching are significantly improved, directly benefiting the many children and their families. In addition, the children receive a warm, balanced, and nutritious meal every day, contributing to their overall well-being.
As an officially recognized foundation, we have the opportunity to offer internships to interested individuals.
The Eco Hapakat Foundation can provide young people with an introduction to the world of development cooperation with the Global South or offer senior experts a platform where they can make their broad knowledge and decades of professional experience available to marginalized groups.
